"It makes sense to cover up"

22 September 2016

It is getting hot out there and it's fair to say we've seen some scorching days so far this year. As pleasant as this has been it's not been so for our skins.

It makes sense to cover up

According to the British Association of dermatologists as of May 2016, 80% of people fail to adequately protect themselves before going out in the sun. And, even though some do cover up in the sun they don't reapply sunscreen after two hours as recommended.

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and every year in the UK 250,000 new cases on non-melanona skin cancers (a group of cancers that slowly develop in the upper layers of the skin) and 13,000 new cases of melanoma (a type of skin cancer that can spread to other organs in the body) are diagnosed. These diagnoses result in 2,148 deaths annually.

It is vital that clients not only understand the risks of over exposure to the sun but also how to protect themselves financially should the worst happen. Covering up with sunscreen is a sensible course of action as is having appropriate critical illness cover in place. There's never been a better time to cover up!!
